Not another cream...

So I’ve been a bit MIA (missing in action) but its because I’ve had some exciting news recently where I am working closely with this brand called Africology.

A while ago I went to an event in the new Africology store in Covent Garden (it’s dreamy by the way) and immediately fell in love with their products, not only do they smell so good, they are all natural and can be used on mama’s to be!

I’ve been lucky enough to try a lot of their products and one that I use religiously every night is their Intense Hydration Night Cream. I have tried a fair few creams to combat my dehydrated skin and spent a small fortune and as painful as it is to say it, it has all been a waste of money (ahem. what?!)

Obviously everyone’s skin is different and you go with what is good for you but I’ve used this product on a few of my clients and they all rave about it and all have a different range of skin types.

I, myself suffer from dehydrated/dry skin and am prone to losing that ‘glow’, hence why it is so important to ensure the skin keeps hydrated. As we get older (my wrinkles keep reminding me this is happening!) the skin produces fewer oils and cell renewal slows down due to hormonal changes, this leads to fine lines, redness and itchiness to name a few.

This is why Africology’s night cream is SO good - it nourishes the skin whilst you rest at night so you wake up with refreshed and glowing skin, what’s not to love?

So lucky for you lovely lot I have an introductory discount code for 15% which can be used on any of their wonderful range and lasts until the end of June so get yourself this cream, I don’t think you will regret it.

BALANCE?

So Summer is in sight and because I need to remain (?) healthy and still exercise frequently, I thought what better way than to have a boozy afternoon/night just to really get me in shape….well at least I’m getting into the summer spirit…

SO yup.. not ideal BUT I did have alot of fun and sometimes relaxing and having me time in other ways us needed (!)

The next day with my son was not fun however, he wasn’t sympathetic to the way I was feeling and I had to carry on being a ‘horsey’ and have him on my back basically the whole day. So night came and I was in desperate need of bringing my dull skin (yup even from one afternoon drinking) back to some sort of life and what better way to do that than use a fabulous brand that has just been introduced into the U.K.

Kora Turmeric Brightening and Exfoliating Mask. Who doesn’t love a 2 in 1? The turmeric naturally exfoliates the skin whilst also reducing the appearance of skin discoloration and pigmentation. The other ingredients, rosehip seeds and papaya enzymes to name a few, work together to clear those pores leaving the skin looking brighter so this is exactly what I needed. I woke up the next day feeling like a different person.

Do I regret having a few drinks? Absolutely not! Life is about balance.

Am I grateful for this mask.? Erm YES. Go grab it and have a look.

ME TIME

What a long week! My little boy has been through it (so have I!!) Suddenly going from a happy wee boy finding everything hilarious to being hit by a bug, completely wiping him out! This week has consisted of a LOT of cuddles, staying in ALL week and a million phone-calls to my husband freaking out and probably being a little neurotic! Me? Never! “I don’t care if you are in a meeting with the CEO, I messaged you 30 seconds ago!!!”.

Sooooo..whenever I got a minute I have been trying to have some ‘me time’.

Enter AFRICOLOGY BATH SALTS: The combination of Rooibus, Aloe Ferox, Manula and African Potato help to relax and soothe sore and stiff muscles, and the smells of the oils are just wonderful to switch off and relax. I definitely feel re-charged and ready to tackle this week coming BUG FREE!

Going organic..

I mentioned that I really wanted to move into the direction of using organic products, not only using it personally but incorporating it into my beauty work. Now, don’t get me wrong, I haven’t thrown away ALL of my products that aren’t organic- this is a work in progress! However I am learning that organic products are definitely the future, that’s not to say that they haven’t been around for a while and I’m certainly not the first to jump on the bandwagon. However unlike many things, this is not a fad!

So just like you nourish your body with organic food (or so we should!) your skin deserves the same amount of care. So many products on the market today contain a scary amount of chemicals which are harmful to us. What goes on your body goes into your body. SIMPLE.

Over the next few posts Ill be posting about some of my favourite products, so wait with bated breath!

THE START OF A HEALTHY BEAUTY REGIME

The start of a healthy beauty regime is sometimes hard, whether it’s because you have a full time job, being a mama, juggling the two together or simply just not having the energy to look after your skin. However, it is SO important for so many aspects of your life and hopefully with this little blog I can give you some tips and show you some of the products that I love to use.

With this cold weather and lack of lie-ins (thank you Arthur - my 16 month old) my skin certainly has suffered. Going from central heating to freezing cold, my poor skin doesn’t know whether it’s coming or going. Not helped sometimes by a little dehydrating factor…ALCOHOL. GASP, I am partial to a beverage or two now and then...and life is all about balance right?

With that in mind it’s so important to hydrate that skin and obviously use great skincare products (which we will get into later). I don’t know about you but my skin (frown lines) and body can really tell if I haven’t had my daily intake of H2O and don’t forget to add a bit of lemon. After just a few days of re-hydration my skin feels so refreshed, I honestly feel good inside and out - as much of a cliche as that sounds. Starting the day with lemon and water has so many health benefits, getting rid of those toxins and aiding a healthy digestion, not to mention the skin feeling super soft! SO go on…stop what you are doing and pour yourself a cold lemon water right now.
